CHVRCHES performing in their hometown of Glasgow and to a hyper-excited crowd at the SSE Hydro, Glasgow. Pulsating and with electronic beats pumping out and the vibration of the base being felt while first on stage were Martin Doherty, Iain Cook, followed by Lauren Mayberry looking stunning in a Yellow see-through dress and black top and shorts beneath and waving to the crowds, and then within seconds of being on stage Lauren had taken hold of the mic and stand and the rhythmic beats of ‘Get Out’ belting out with Lauren bouncing and strutting around the stage and lunging forward engaging with the crowds., Also, the back of the stage their session drummer Jonny Scott who has been touring with the band since 2018.
Switching between classic Chvrches with ‘Bury it ‘ and then ‘Gun’ and ‘ to the newer and equally as ace stuff ‘Graffiti’ and ‘Deliverance’. While a lot of Chvrches music has a sad element to some of their songs but with an intense lighting production, this made sure everyone still are in love with them. Synth-pop music that is so uplifting.
Being a fan of CHVRCHES, since, in 2011, There music is clearly inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode. I can see the connections and the inspirations, just like DM has Dave Gahan as a front lead he can be active with lots of energy on stage.
CHVRCHES have Lauren who spins, arms outstretched and bounces and lunges all over the stage and with such an intensity you can see she loves performing and how intense the words to the songs have meaning.
I also have to give a mention to there session drummer of course who Jonny Scott – drums, percussion who was outstanding, however, I tried to capture him but he was hidden the dark areas of the stage.
With every song that followed CHVRCHES did not disappoint the home crowds in the SSE Hydro Glasgow. You still catch the band as the tour continues in Newcastle and Dublin. CHVRCHES are back in Edinburgh for the Edinburgh Sessions on 11th of August where they will once again play to their fans, in their home country of Scotland.
